"So, are there a lot of fat people there?" was what a friend of mine asked. Actually no, but I'm told it's particular to this part of the US. People here are really friendly, considerate and generally pleasant to be around. Don't know if they're being honest, though.

Yesterday I bought my first camera :o) A Nikon D40 Digital SLR camera, 2 gb memory card and a bag for it. I even saved a pretty penny on it compared to standard price. And if you compare it to Danish prices, I saved maybe 2000kr. - that's quite a bit. I've spent all afternoon learning about this wonderful new piece of gadgetry, and I even got to go shoot some pictures in the "Japanese Gardens" up in Portland. Tomorrow we're getting up early to go look at nature at dawn, and from there on to do a bit of nerding at Barnes and Noble :o)

If we're lucky, we may even get to work a bit on our masters tomorrow afternoon
